Part-time Program Manager

Salary:   $14.00/hour, part- time, including some nights and weekends

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, incumbent will plan, direct and coordinate the daily operations of the SAYL 2ndGrade Reading Buddy Program at approximately 16 schools (part-time), including but not limited to:

  • Completing monthly site visits at schools to ensure program consistency
  • Ensuring curriculum is properly implemented by SAYL Reading Buddies and that the Reading Buddies feel supported in their role
  • Maintaining all records pertaining to the program, including data entry and management
  • Maintaining all books and supplies necessary for program implementation
  • Serving as a liaison between school staff, Reading Buddies and SAYL staff
  • Conducting SAYL Reading Buddy trainings
  • Conducting SAYL Site Director trainings
  • Maintaining partnerships and collaborations with other organizations associated with the SAYL schools
  • Participation in community events
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or SAYL staff

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationship with Reading Buddies, school staff, business community and the general public
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Understanding of and experience working within the public school system, particularly Title One schools, is preferred but not required
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to our schools, our students and our Reading Buddies
  • Proven communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain detailed records

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with prior experience working with or teaching children is preferred
  • Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and an understanding of IOS systems
  • Reliable transportation with a valid Texas driver’s license, insurance and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
