VOLUNTEER WITH SAYL

Volunteer Opportunities with SAYL

SAYL’s primary volunteer opportunity is with our 2nd grade Reading Buddy program, and takes place at an area elementary school. We also have opportunities in our office, special events and internships throughout the year. Please view the dropdown menu below to see more information on our different volunteer opportunities.

Reading Buddy Volunteers

Volunteers are essential to the success of SAYL’s Reading Buddy program! Reading Buddies must be at least seventeen years old and be able to commit at least one hour per week, for a full school year, approximately 16 sessions. During this time, the volunteer works one-on-one with two students, each for thirty minutes. If Reading Buddies are able to commit to more time each week, they are encouraged to work more than the minimum requirement of one hour.

At this time, SAYL is developing a safe and effective environment to face the challenges of tutoring our students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please register below and be patient with us as we overcome these challenges. Our staff will reach out to you when new training sessions are available.
