Scholarship Breakfast 2006

The 1st Annual Harriet Marmon Helmle Scholarship Breakfast was held on September 13th, 2006 at the Plaza Club. Ms. Helmle, SAYL Founder, was recognized for her lifetime dedication to promoting literacy for San Antonio’s youth. In her honor, SAYL awarded a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving Volunteer Reading Tutor, Eden Vera. With more than 200 guests in attendance, the event was a clear testament to Harriet’s vision in founding the organization and compelling the community to care about the problem of illiteracy.

Special thanks to John T. Montford, Senior Vice President, AT&T Services, Inc., for chairing and emceeing the breakfast. SAYL also extends heartfelt thanks to all the guests who attended and supported the event. SAYL especially thanks those corporate and individual sponsors who made the breakfast possible. Thank you too to everyone who purchased tickets and made the event a huge success.
