Harvey Najim- A Hero for Children

San Antonio Youth Literacy would like to thank Mr. Harvey Najim for challenging our donors to a $5,000.00 match funding during the 2018 Big Give SA that was held March 22. Thanks to his generosity and motivation we were able to meet and exceed our goal of $15,000.00 this year. Moreover, as many nonprofits in San Antonio know, Harvey isn’t just a once a year kind’a guy. Whenever he sees a need in the community he is there to lead the way on raising money for worthy causes, particularly in cases involving children. One can hardly forget his efforts during Hurricane Harvey when he rapidly organized a telethon with the help of WOAI NEWS 4 to raise millions of dollars in hurricane relief and visited with hundreds of displaced victims, many of whom were children. Never just giving of his own personal fortune (which he does freely,) he awards millions of dollars through the Najim Foundation in the form of grants to area nonprofits, and is instrumental in organizing others throughout the community to maximize resources – one of his fortes!

So, Mr. Najim, thank you again for all that you do for the children of San Antonio and humanity in general. You are our superhero and always will be. You make this a better place.

Dr. Deborah Valdez, Ed.D., Executive Director

“I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people. – Maya Angelou
