Congratulations to our September SAYL Reading Buddy of the month, Kirby Carpenter. He is volunteering at W W White Elementary in SAISD. He has also been instrumental in coordinating members from his church, First Presbyterian. Thanks to them we are able to work with 20 2nd grade students who need some extra reading help. Thank you Kirby for your service!
We just met with Catholic Charities of San Antonio and are excited to be partnering with their Foster Grandparent program. They recruit low income seniors to read with elementary students in San Antonio. As part of the program the seniors receive a stipend, bus pass, health exam and a free lunch. We will be collaborating with them to help place Reading Buddies/ Foster Grandparents
Congratulations to our April Site Director of the Month – Mrs. Maribel Lacey.
